About the Student Advocacy Fund

The goal of the PKDF Student Advocacy Fund is to provide economic resources to students with Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency (PKD) and their families, enabling them to hire a lawyer or special education advocate to participate meaningfully in the Individualized Education Program (IEP), 504 Plan process or exercise their right for representation. This fund is created to help students with PKD to receive the education they deserve without feeling punished for missing school or practices due to their chronic illness, build self-confidence, and enhance their self-esteem.
